They believe that thrusting their manhood against our consent is a sign of their masculinity.
The brands are simply sabotaging the struggle and pink-washing the movement. Glorifying the struggles with make-up, fashion, and whatnot.
The trauma she will live with, the fear that will grip her everytime she goes out ? Who will account for every sleepless nightmarish night she has to endure ?
We, women, have to take care of us. No one is going to fight for you: a candle marches, protests and you are forgotten!
These words should haunt you. Like it does to me. Voices from women within Afghanistan !
We don’t foresee a bloodbath in the twenty-first century, but the question is what will be the breadth of women’s rights legislation. Is there a limit to how far it can go?
For how long should women face such torturous days? For how long the patriarchal culture will oppress women of color?
Let’s not romanticise the idea of marriage to an extent of overlooking the matter of rape.
